The Ultimate Wedding Week: Reception Inspiration

I'm back today joining the Ultimate Wedding Week Link Party over at Hello! Happiness and we're talking about the reception, but more like what's inspiring me today since the big day isn't until 8.19.12!

The reception like the ceremony will be held at beautiful Edgewood Tahoe in the North Room, where floor to ceiling windows over look Lake Tahoe. There will be dancing, signature drinks and cupcakes. Here are a few pieces I hope to incorporate into the wedding.  I can't wait!

The Ultimate Wedding Week: Ceremony Inspiration

Today I'm joining in on a little link party with Schue Love. It's the fourth installment of the The Ultimate Wedding Week Link Party and we're talking about the ceremony and in my case ceremony inspiration. Pinterest has made organizing my ideas and things that inspire SO much easier. Here are a few elements I hope to incorporate into the wedding ceremony.

Wedding season has begun. We attended the first of five weddings (one is ours) over the weekend. We were honored to share this special moment with Claire + Tom at Edgewood Tahoe. It was spectacular! Their photographer Justine Lureva did an amazing job. We are so happy for the lovely couple!

The Ultimate Wedding Week: Rehearsal Dinner Inspiration

This week instead of an installment of Wedding Wednesdays I'm linking up with A charmed Life for the The Ultimate Wedding Week Link Party and we're talking about the Rehearsal Dinner and in my case rehearsal dinner inspiration.

The big day is August 19, 2012 and with it only months way we're in full planning mode. Our Save-the-date went out a few weeks ago, our wedding website is up, the venue is booked and colors are picked among other things.

We've narrowed down a few options for the rehearsal dinner -- Blue Angel Cafe', Riva Grill or our backyard. These are just a few things that I would love to incorporate into our shindig.





We still have a few months to decide where to host our rehearsal dinner and decor. We're on track and there are son many different ideas out there. My wedding is inspired by all things rustic, vintage and shabby chic....Happy Wedding Planning

Totally Bananas Chocolate Chip-Oat Cookies

We love bananas in our house but sometimes they just don't get eaten quick enough. Typically I'll make banana bread with extra ripe bananas however this time I decided to try something new. Last spring I bought  Pretty Delicious by Candice Kumai aka Stiletto Chef and have been pleased with pretty much every recipe I have tried to date. Last night I was craving something sweet so I whipped up a batch of her Totally Bananas Chocolate Chip-Oat Cookies and they are to die for! I hope you like them as much as I did.

Makes 2 dozen cookies

    3/4 cup all-purpose flour
    1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon sea salt
    2 tablespoons (1/4 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
    1 cup light brown sugar
    1 large egg
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1 small or 1/2 large ripe banana, mashed (about 1/2 cup)
    2 cups quick oats
    1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

    Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Whisk the flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt together in a medium bowl and set aside.

    In the bowl of a stand mixer (or in a large bowl if using a hand mixer) cream the butter and brown sugar together on medium speed until creamy, 1 to 1 1/2 minutes. Add the egg and vanilla and beat to combine, using a rubber spatula to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl as necessary. Mix in the mashed banana and 1/4 cup of water, beating until incorporated. Turn the mixer off and add the dry ingredients and beat on low speed until they’re just combined. Add the oats and the chocolate chips, mix briefly and use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl if needed.

Chill the cookie dough in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

    Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil and coat lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Use a tablespoon to scoop out 1 1/2-inch dough balls, placing them about 1 inch apart on the baking sheet. Bake until just golden on top, about 10 minutes. Cool on the sheet for 10 minutes before transferring the cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Nutrition Information per Cookie: 127 calories, 4 g fat (2 g saturated fat)

Berry Protein Shake

It might be the middle of March and about to snow, but I’m drinking smoothies for breakfast and dinner…at least for the next week. After taking about a 2 month hiatus from the gym plus signing up for Tough Mudder this girl decided it was time to kick it into gear. So here I am starting the elimination diet at 135 lbs with a goal of 120/125 lbs by my wedding Aug 19 (yes I’m putting it out there). I'm pretty sure I can do it. This morning I made this delicious smoothie. 

Blend all ingredients until smooth
  •  1 cup almond milk --- unsweetened
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen raspberries
  • 1/2 cup fresh or frozen blackberries (optional)
  • 3 pitted dates
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon flax meal powder or 2 ounces aloe juice
