Toddler Approved Star Wars Rain Boots + a Giveaway!

Oh my goodness I hope you're ready for cuteness overload! My toddler loves shoes especially boots! So when Western Chief hooked Emerson up with R2D2 rain boots she was more than thrilled. She hasn't taken them off since they arrived Saturday. Not kidding. Even though it's not raining or snowing she insisted on wearing them to preschool today.

Getting a toddler to model rain boots, or anything, is no easy feat. But these are our "off to school" photos.

While these Western Chief rain boots are Emerson's first pair, I'm sure they won't be her last. Emerson can actually put them on all by herself. The two handles make it easy for kids to pull them on and off. Now she just needs to learn how to put them on the right feet.

The new Kids’ Star Wars Darth Vader collection of rain gear is available on the  Western Chief website as well as at major retailers including Nordstrom, Stride Rite and Amazon.

Kids (or parents) who love Star Wars need these boots R2D2 waterproof rain boots. They are perfect for girls and boys. May the force be with you. Other options include Star Wars Darth Vadar Rain Boots and Dark Side Lighted Rain Boots. Besides the new Star Wars Darth Vader rain gear, the company also has other licensed character boots and rain gear such as Disney’s Frozen!

P.S. Receive 15% off when you purchase a children's holiday bundle (jacket, boots and umbrella).

As part of my review, Western Chief is kindly offering one lucky reader a chance to win a pair of Star Wars Rain Boots [$40] for an awesome kid in their life!

Prize: (1) Star Wars Rain Boots - R2D2Star Wars Darth Vadar Rain Boots, or Dark Side Lighted Rain boots.

Hi There.

Excuse me while I recover from cabin fever. Yesterday I spent the entire day inside with a toddler and whiny dog because it was pouring. You can imagine how awesome that was.

So we'll just jump into Friday favorites....

Our 2016 Christmas Card

Our 2016 Christmas cards were signed, sealed and delivered about a week ago so it's high time I share them with y'all. The stars aligned Thanksgiving weekend. Not only was my brother in town, and willing to snap a few family photos, it snowed! A snowy backdrop just makes for festive photos.

Of course, we went with Minted. Who was I kidding. But I got them at a steal during the Cyber Monday sale (yes, I paid for my cards -- no sponsored post here). I loved the watercolor Oh What Fun! design and thought it complimented our photos perfectly.

If you join now, Minted will give you $25 toward your first purchase of $100 or more! Sign up, HERE.

There were so many great photos to choose from so we opted to include a few photos and message on the back. Of course, we took advantage of Minted's pre-addressed envelops and purchased the skinny wrap return labels.

Emerson's little personality really shined this year and I'm super happy with our cards.

I love shopping on Minted and I think you will too. Minted sells the freshest unique paper goods - from holiday cards to wedding invitations to limited-edition art - all sourced from a global community of independent graphic designers.

If you join now, Minted will give you $25 toward your first purchase of $100 or more! Sign up, HERE.

Did you send Holiday cards this year?

How to Maintain Clean Floors over the Holidays

Here's the thing I have wood floors throughout the house and I live in the mountains. You might think it's a pain to keep them clean, but it really isn't. Not when you have a few tricks up your sleeve! (psst... there's a giveaway at the end)

Over Thanksgiving we had six adults staying at our barely 1,500 square foot home. Yikes!

No shoes and Bona wet and dry cloths kept our wood floors nice and clean. While wine and fresh mountain air kept us all sane.

No shoes are key when you live in the mountains. It helps keep the dirt and snow out. No one wants soggy socks. When you have dogs it can be a little harder. Pro tip: Keep a Bona Microfiber Floor Mop near by to quickly wipe up wet paw prints.

Bona has a number of products that make Holiday cleanup extremely easy. Two products

Two products I'm currently using and loving include...

Bona Disposable Dusting Cloths provide a quick fix clean, featuring a 3D design that utilizes thousands of fluffy fibers to effectively lock away dust, dirt and pet hair. Cleans 1.8X faster than the leading sweeping cloths due to a larger surface area.

This is ideal when you have hardwood floors throughout the house.

For a quick fix clean, Bona Hardwood Floor Wet Cleaning Pads feature a multi-layered design infused with Bona's effective cleaning formula. The pads utlize locking strips for convenient attachment and removal for superior quick and easy cleaning.

Using Bona Hardwood Floor Wet Cleaning Pads and Bona Disposable Dusting Cloths allows for more time with family and friends not only during the holidays, but year round! Over Thanksgiving we spent our extra time cutting down a Christmas Tree!

Enter HERE to win $100 worth of Bona products, to get started on your own holiday cleaning - and a $150 SpaFinder gift card, to help you enjoy your “simple moments”!

Giveaway Terms & Conditions: The contest runs until December 20, 2016 at 11:59 PM PST. The winner will be notified directly by Facebook messenger on or before December 27, 2016. Entrants must be residents of the US and 18+ only. Winner will be randomly selected from entries via the Rafflecopter widget.

Baby it's Cold Outside

When you think of Tahoe Winters you typically think of snow. Unfortunately it rained all weekend. While I'm sitting here dreaming of colder temps and snow fest your eyes on a few cozy hats for the entire family. You know, just in case it's cold in your neck of the woods. It will snow here eventually...

I personally love a chunky knit beanie with a  fun pom pom on top! Hats, scarves, and gloves all make great stocking stuffers too! Santa always leaves our family a new beanie.

Shop at DICK'S Sporting Goods for Cozy Gifts

Hello, fellow fitness enthusiast and lover of activewear! When was the last time you walked into a DICK'S Sporting Goods store? Yeah, I'm right there with you. I recently was asked to partner with them and I said what the heck I love activewear. Boy am I glad I did. I was pleasantly surprised to find so many of the brands I love for awesome prices. You know I love a good deal. So when I find a good deal on activewear I feel like I hit the jackpot. HA.

With extended store hours, great deals and promotions, plus a variety of ways to shop, DICK’S is the perfect place to find the “Gift that Matters” for the athletes and outdoor enthusiasts on your holiday shopping list this season.

Anyway, here are the best cozy gifts I found at DICK'S Sporting Goods store.

All the Socks
Seriously Yaktrax Cabin Socks are the coziest socks you'll ever buy. They are currently on BOGO! Additionally when my favorite Nike Women's Dri-FIT Graphic No Show Tab Socks socks are on sale I can't help, but snag a few 3-packs. I always laugh that they are labeled L/R.

CALIA by Carrie Underwood Gear
Yup, I'm a fan of her personally and CALIA gear, which by the way is exclusive to DICK'S Sporting Goods. CALIA offers women an array of fun leggings, sports bras, layers and accessories. Pro Tip: Wait for a sale to pick up a piece or two as they are on the pricer end. How cute is this VEST!

Layers, Layers and more Layers
You name it I have it, bought it for someone or am eying it! Living in Tahoe we need all the layers when we go outside, snowboarding, working out, etc. Since our Crossfit 'box' can be a little cold during winter months I picked up a new Under Amour long sleeve.

Only the best water bottle on the market [IMO]. Any fitness enthusiast will love this gift. Aside from it keeping water cold it will also keeps your beverage hot up to 24 hours! Yes, the beloved Hydroflask pulls double duty!

Gloves, Scarfs, Beanies
When you live in the mountain you can never have enough options. Every year for Christmas Santa leaves Nick a North Face beanie in his socking. DICK'S Sporting Goods has a number of options to cover the entire family!

While DICK'S Sporting Goods carries so many other awesome gift options I hope these options will keep your family cozy this winter! Now through the holiday season, DICK’S Sporting Goods will offer free shipping on online orders, with no minimum purchase required. Oversized or overweight items will still be subject to a surcharge.

There is also an opportunity for those who shop at DICK’S Sporting Goods to help the company combat the youth sports funding crisis across America by making a very small purchase.

Sports Matter: While shopping at DICK’S, you can also help save youth sports by purchasing Sports Matter green shoe laces. Two dollars of each purchase will be donated to the DICK'S Foundation to support young athletes across the country.

You can learn more about the Sports Matter program HERE.

Friday Favorites: Snacks, Sledding + A Giveaway

Happy FriYAY!

Hope everyone stayed safe and warm during the Coast-to-Coast storm. It wasn't too snowy in Tahoe, but it sure was COLD! This weekend we're due for more less than desirable conditions. I foresee snuggles with Emerson, online shopping, Crossfit [always], meal prep [I'm so far off my regimen right now] and maybe a little work [yeah I know]. All in all, life is good.

Let's jump into a few things I'm currently loving.

Sledding Toddler Style
Having a toddler in Tahoe can be difficult at times. Especially when it's 11 degrees outside. Whelp mom went out and bought one of those plastic sleds! Basically shedding consists of pulling Emerson behind me while walking the dog. [Sorry for the bad iPhone photo]

Best Deal of the Week: Cleveland Upholstered Headboard
Someone please buy this! Unfortunately I don't need a headboard, but if I did I would snag one of these bad boys. You really can't beat the price! I'm sure it will go up so don't delay. And yes, you need a headboard. It finishes the room.

All the Snacks: Thrive by GoMacro
I'm a snacky kind or gal, which isn't entirely good when you work from home. Knowing I'll grab a snack [or two] during the day I try to keep a limited supply of healthier options. Think fruit, nuts and all the bars! I'm still obsessed with Thrive by GoMacro. I love GoMacro bars so it only makes sense that I love their new Thrive bars. My favorite flavor is Chocolate, Nuts + Sea Salt with the Blueberry Lavender a close second.

GoMacro is a family-owned vegan company that was started by a mother-daughter team on their organic farm in Southwest Wisconsin. Their new line of Thrive are made up of a superfood ancient grain blend, are all less than 200 calories and provide plant-based protein, essential fatty acids, and prebiotic fiber to fuel your body and mind. Thrive is offering readers [you!] 30% off your next Thrive purchase with discount code Thrive30 via the GoMacro's online store.

As part of my review, GoMarco is kindly offering one lucky reader a chance to win a box of assorted Thrive [MSRP $26.28]!

Prize: (1) box of assorted Thrive by GoMacro

Friday Favorites: Sweaters, PJs and Gift Guides

The holidays are in full swing and there's no escaping it. Come on you know you're ready to rock an awesome Christmas sweater, devour all things pepper bark [which is way better than pumpkin spice], watch Christmas Vacation and log some serious family time.

In the spirit of Christmas here are a few things I'm loving!

Christmas Cards
It snowed over Thanksgiving weekend making the perfect backdrop for our Christmas cards photos! We went with Minted! I'll share more later, but until then here's one of my favorite photos.

dress / emerson's boots / sorels

Although I bought personalized stockings last year I kind of want new ones... maybe velvet.

Christmas Sweaters
If you didn't get the memo Ugly Christmas sweaters are in! I've been on the hunt for a fun Christmas sweater to rock.

Christmas PJs
Growing up we always opened up one present on Christmas eve. It was always new pajamas. You better believe I started the tradition with Emerson! Target is on point with their family pj sets if you're looking for matching pjs for the entire family!

Gifts for Couples

Happy first day of December! Over the years Nick and I have really enjoyed getting a joint gift. This Christmas isn't any different. While haven't nailed anything down we have a few ideas like new luggage, Apple TV or a quick weekend getaway.

Sonos - Listen to tunes throughout the house or while you're working on the yard.

Pillows - We actually just bought these and they are worth the price tag. They're still on super sale through 'Cyber Week.'

The Nest - We received this as a gift last year and absolutely love it. It's nice to be able to control your thermostat from your phone.

Down Alternative Comforter - There's nothing better than a cozy bed. We currently have the luxury mid weight on our bed.

TV - While our flatscreen works just fine it's a little out dated. Christmas is a great time to upgrade.

Luggage - For the jet-set couple. I like the idea of a hard case and 360 degree wheel.

Apple TV - We love our Apple TV and actually cancelled cable because of it 3 years ago! I know crazy, but Hulu and Netflix does the trick. We've been thinking about upgrading to the latest model.

Nespresso VertuoLine Coffee & Espresso Maker - We're big coffee drinks and have an awesome coffer maker, but it would be nice to make myself a cappuccino, latte, etc.

How to Prep for a Cookie Exchange

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #ShareTheHoliday #CollectiveBias

Can you believe tomorrow is December?! We're in full holiday mode at Casa de Meyer. The tree is trimmed, christmas cards have been ordered and holiday baking has started. This time of year is full of  parties ranging from cookie exchanges to work dinners.

I love the idea of a cookie exchange. It's a fun way to get the ladies together and exchange a few cookies and recipes. Typically when you're going to a cookie exchange you'll bring X dozen of cookies and take home the same. While 12 dozen cookies sound awesome that's way too much for me. I prefer a cookie exchange where everyone brings 1-2 dozen cookies and you leave with a few of each cookie. Make sense?

Anyway let's get down to business.

How to Prep for a Cookie Exchange [It's unbelievably simple.]

1. Determine what to make and how much
This year I'm making Chocolate Caramel Turtles! They're super easy to make ahead of time.

2. Determine how will you present your cookies
Personally I like using Rubbermaid TakeAlongs. They are the perfect vessel to house your delicious holiday meals/snacks when sharing them with friends/family and celebrating the season of giving.

Adding to the fun, Holiday TakeAlongs come in limited edition red, green and prints for the holidays and will be available in-store: 10/29 – 12/24

TakeAlongs product features:
➺ Quik Clik Seal™ keeps food secure and helps prevent spills.
➺ Soft lid grips the container tightly for a great seal, yet with a large tab opening is easy.
➺ Microwavable, top rack dishwasher and freezer safe.

3. Spread the joy
Now that your treats are made and you're ready to head out the door, spice up your Rubbermaid TakeAlongs by wrapping it with twine and a fun tag. These will also make fun gifts for your awesome neighbors.

Now if you're hosting a cookie exchange you'll have a whole different prep list. We'll save that for another day.

Ready to spice up your cookie exchange? Pick up Rubbermaid TakeAlongs the next time you're at Walmart. They're also perfect for all those Holiday leftovers.
