My #NSale Workout Gear Picks

Since the blogging world is blowing up everyone's feed with #NSALE picks I figured I should at least chime in with my workout gear picks. And if anyone knows workout gear, well, it's yours truly. For starters I workout more than I should admit and secondly I 'work' while wearing workout gear. Honestly, I probably shouldn't ever buy anything else. ;)

While I could have spent a small fortune buying stuff for myself and the little sweet heart, so far, I've only bought these boots and leggings. I know real exciting over here. Anyway there's still EIGHT days of shopping left so anything can change.

Here are a few things I'm eyeing because you can never have too much workout gear!

Pear, Prosciutto and Feta Flatbread

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #VinoBlockParty #CollectiveBias The following content is intended for readers who are 21 or older.

Warm summer nights call for picnics in the front yard and BBQs with friends. I don't know about you, but I'm a fan of testing new recipes before making them for a party. With that said, I just made the tastiest Pear, Prosciutto and Feta Flatbread that will definitely be a winner at the next BBQ, girls night in or a simple 'friends' dinner. However, the key is enjoying it outside, with friends and paired with the perfect wine!

Oh, you didn't think I would forget about the wine?! Yup, no shame in my game... we've been enjoying Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi. Not only did it pair well with the flatbread, but it's perfect for cooking!

During the summer I love a crisp cold white wine. Recently, the Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Chardonnay has been in heavy rotation at our house. Not only is it affordable it isn't half bad. It always tastes better when shared :)

Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi has been around for over 30 years making it a brand that you can trust when sharing with a friend.

Can we talk about the flatbread for a minute? I'm not going to lie it was pretty amazing and I can't wait to have it for lunch today. After a long day at work yesterday it was super quick and easy to make. Plus, I was impressed by the gourmet taste, presentation, and budget friendly cost. win-win in my book.

So what are you waiting for. Fire up the BBQ, make some flatbread and open a bottle of Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Chardonnay.

Serves 4-6

1 can pizza dough [I prefer wheat] or use pre-made flat bread
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small red onion, thinly sliced
3/4 cup Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Chardonnay
1 tbsp honey
1/2 tsp salt ¼ teaspoon pepper
1 egg
1 cup feta cheese, crumbled
2 pears, thinly sliced
2 package prosciutto, thinly sliced and cut into strips
2 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
1 cup arugula

Preheat oven according to directions on pizza crust package. Lightly cover 16x14 baking sheet with cooking spray or pizza stone and roll crust. Bake crust 8 minutes, or until lightly golden brown around the edges. Remove from oven and set aside.

Heat oil in a saucepan and sauté red onion over low heat until onion begins to soften. Add wine, honey, salt and pepper; simmer until liquid is nearly gone. Combine egg and feta cheese and spread over crust.

Layer pears, prosciutto and onions. Bake 8-10  minutes or until crust is golden brown.  Top with thyme and and arugula.

Happy FriYay!

While everyone is talking about about their #NSALE picks I'm over here drooling over this Macadamia Nut Pesto Pasta Salad. I've been in full training mode the last few months, but decided to spurge a little.

Anyway, looking to whip up something delish and on the healthier side I landed on Macadamia Nut Pesto Pasta Salad packed with asparagus, tomatoes and chicken! To top it off with dined outside because that's what you do during the summer.

Not only did I manage to pick up a box of Barilla Pasta during my last trip to Walmart, but I didn't leave without a six pack of Gold Peak Tea. Who doesn't love ice tea during the summer!? Am I right? Available in a variety of flavors I personally love the unsweetened tea. It's perfect on it's own or with a slice of lemon. Plus it rounds out any summer BBQ, beach day or road trip nicely.

OK, back to the amazing pasta salad.

Macadamia Nut Pesto Pasta Salad
serves 8-10

1 Rotisserie Chicken, shredded
1 pound Barilla Pasta
1 pound fresh asparagus, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces with tough ends trimmed off
2 cups diced tomatoes
1 cup Macadamia Nut Pesto
2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar
2 to 3 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
Salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add Barilla Pasta and cook until al dente, stirring occasionally, according to package directions. Three minutes before the pasta is done, add the asparagus pieces. Finish cooking until pasta is al dente and asparagus is blanched. Drain and rinse until cool.

In a large bowl, combine pasta, asparagus and chicken. In another bowl whisk pesto, apple cider vinegar and additional olive oil to thin out the pesto to a dressing-like consistency. Pour pesto dressing over the pasta salad ingredients, gently toss ingredients to combine and coat, and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Just before serving, stir in the tomatoes.

Homamade Macadamia Nut Pesto

In a food processor combine 3 cups fresh basil, 1/2 cups Macadamia Nuts, 1/2 lemon, 3/4 cups olive, 3 garlic cloves, 1/2 cup parmesan and salt and pepper to taste.

It's a simple summer salad perfect for a picnic in the yard or a side at a BBQ. I'll definitely make this for our next BBQ and might even swap out the chicken with bacon!

How to Create a Backyard Oasis

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #BringTheTropicsHome #CollectiveBias

Who doesn't want a little Aloha in their life? After recently visiting Maui in May [yes a recap is coming soon!] I love the idea of having a little island life at home. The ocean breeze and smell of tropical flowers, anyway.....

My mom, who's house is currently on the market, nailed the whole tropical oasis and since my DIY teepee and tropical doormat were epic fails I'm taking a page from my mamma. Plus her house is unreal. Set in North County San Diego, this 2 story 3,000+ square foot home is just a few miles off the coast. However, once you set sight on her tropical backyard you'll find yourself never wanting to leave.

Step One: Have a clear vision and draw it out. Whether you're channeling the Greek Islands, Mexico or Hawaii pick your vision and run with it. Bonus tip: It helps if you can start with a blank canvas, this backyard was straight dirt and a concrete slab.

Step Two: Create an outdoor BBQ/Bar area. Remember you're creating a tropical oasis which means tons of gatherings at your house with friends.

Step Three: Extend your house outside. Basically add a cover to you deck/patio area to create a bungalow like vibe.

Step Four: Create various seating options . Oh, and don't forget your outdoor gas fireplace. Cool beach nights call for a cozy fire.

Step Five: If you have the space, add a pool and don't forget the baja ledge. [Can you smell the ocean breeze yet?] BTW - it's salt water pool!

Step Six: Make sure said pool has a waterfall.

Step Seven: Plant lots of palm trees. What's a tropical oasis without palm trees!!

Okay, you're probably saying yeah that's a one amazing backyard oasis, but I don't have the time, space or money. Don't fret I've got your back. It might not be a oasis like my mom's, but it will do the trick in the interim, all® Fresh Tropical Mist™.
